CIEN Y PICO
The Project That Keeps Rocking My Roots
In the backstage of the DO Manchuela, it’s us, the century-old vines, standing strong thanks to the band that keeps us alive: Cien Y Pico. They’re more than winemakers; they’re the artists preserving our legacy, taking us on tour around the world.
And there’s still so much left to play!
Hi! I’m Lady Bobal, the most diva-like of all the vines, the one who’s seen generations come and go, still standing proudly.
In 2007, my current managers—a group of winemakers with more rock than patience—rescued me from oblivion. They decided it was time to take me out of the garage and bring me back to the stage, to dance and show off my best version.

What’s up? I’m Garnacha Tintorera. I’ve seen it all, mate: storms, frosts, tractors, harvesters;
I’ve felt the hail break my grapes, birds devour them, and bees prick them to sip the sweet juice I produce—despite my thick skin. I’ve even survived the relentless Manchuela sun. The world around me has changed, but thanks to that, I am who I am, with rock flowing through my veins. My winemaker thinks I’m old, but I’m younger than him. I’ve endured more hail, frosts, and cold nights than he has.
All I ask of these four madmen is to take care of me, give me water when it doesn’t rain, and build a home where I can deliver my fruits at least once a year—the ones that survive, anyway. That house, by the way, is already built and it has a name! Guess what?
Oh yeah…

They once heard a local say, “Ciento y pico!” when asked how old we were. And it stuck—
Cien Y Pico—because none of us deal in exact numbers, so the name felt cool.
The bottle is our stage.
And we’re not ready to leave.
We don’t want any kind of surgery.
We don’t want to be part of history books.
We want to stay in the bottles, filling empty glasses.
We don’t want to live with younger plants; we’re perfectly fine among our old friends.
Our roots are firmly planted near the Cabriel Valley, a UNESCO-recognized Biosphere Reserve. This natural setting is our source of inspiration, full of life and energy. What gives our grapes their character and vitality? The wild biodiversity that surrounds us. There’s no industrial harvesting here; everything is done by hand, with the same care you give your favorite guitar or ballet slippers. Each bunch is treated like a legendary guitar solo or a Relevè. And although we’ve won international awards, what matters most to us is staying authentic, with that touch of terroir that makes us unique.
Handpicked, with the same care you’d give your favorite guitar.
For us, real glory lies in every bottle opened to fill empty glasses.
